Debentures can be convertible and non-convertible; It’s a long-term investment and safer than stocks and mutual investment; Debentures can be convertible to Equity Shares as per the conditions applicable at the time of investing; Debentures generally have more than 10 to 15 years of maturity; This option is exercised by Companies to raise huge capital for expansion plans and / or big capital expenditures like Plant & Machinery; Debenture is also a good option for long-term investments.
